Cell Hell...

Alright, what's the deal with the cell phone screw over we are getting here in Canada? Yes, I am aware this has been going on for forever. We have the highest rates and the lousiest plans in the bloody world. However, now that we all know about it, why isn't someone doing something about the problem?

A friend is looking for a better plan, one that doesn't charge him up the ass for going over on minutes. Freedom Mobile was looking pretty decent until they made a faux paus. Apparently Canada ends in Vancouver. Yes, Vancouver Island is neglected. Ummm hello.... that IS the Capital of BC! Anyhow, so yeah, no kiosks, no offices, no service. In fact since it would be considered long distance, apparently the charge is astronomical .15 cents a minute. WTF?!!!!!! Yes, that is freedom.

There's Virgin, Rogers, Telus and Bell. The main usual culprits who slip into your wallet and not only take up residence, but eat away at the lining until there is NO wallet anymore! It's a holy mess and you've been charged and over charged, and they're laughing all the way to the bank.

Samsung Galaxy 7. A phone known to have serious dangers. A phone that is requested by the stewardesses aboard any flight. Yeah, by NAME! Hmmm.... why are they still being sold, and why on earth are they given with a huge discount on phone plans?! Do we want to kill off the users and earn less money? Seriously, it cost only pennies to put together in some factory with child labor, I'm sure. I'd think full cancellation of that phone model would be beneficial to all by now. Complete refund, etc.

I honestly don't get the bullshit. I've got a great plan, I'm not going to complain about it - but the price, while not as much as I could be paying, is totally abhorrent.

We need to step it up Canada. Get into tune with the rest of the world with our LTE and WiFi world, and make it something far more efficient and affordable for all.

Stepping off the soap box for the moment...
